The determination by Man to ‘create’ is perversely, an attempt to eradicate any hallmarks left by the true Creator. The legacies of Man left for all of us to admire are just the ‘childlike drawings’ in our efforts to understand true science, art and philosophy. We have applauded ourselves for striving for reason, beauty and wisdom; yet in truth we have achieved nothing; it is better to be grounded in God than fly with Man. I believe all knowledge is but vanity, an attempt to expunge our own deep consciousness and to live in the artificial and shallow sensations of our material world. To walk with God is to reject the relevance and indeed reverence towards the great thinkers of our age or any age; Man’s wisdom is foolishness to God and thus we need to undermine the very cornerstones of Man’s beliefs in himself and his prodigies.
However, some intellectual erosion has already taken place for even the ‘laity’ are puzzled by the nature of ‘art forms’ that lack intrinsic beauty, and a life which is increasingly devoid of any ultimate purpose, where knowledge is hoarded, but wisdom appears to depreciate. Our task is therefore to show that only by thoughtfulness and kindness towards others do we achieve real purpose and that it and our dependency on God is the ‘real meaning of life’. To know God is far richer and wiser than the collection of all Man’s knowledge, for in such a state we will truly learn and recognise that we do not need to teach, where we simply follow and not endeavour to lead, where the emphasis is on acceptance of life and all its uncertainties, rather than to predict and thereby control the future. This is where the need for prayer rests, the need to realise that the world and its pretences are but a sham that even the most important aspects of our lives are a façade that we have to expose, in order to gain true wisdom and understanding.
