Who are we? How do we define ourselves and describe this to others? Strangely we look outside our very being to define who we are? In truth our very spirit cannot be described in terms of gender, sexuality, race, nationality, colour or even creed. If we strip ourselves down to our inner being, we will find none of this; instead, the best we can hope for is a quiet inner peace which floats within a sea of contentment. It is now that a realisation comes to the fore, His Spirit, so carefully sprinkled by God onto all mankind, may have to dwell in a seemingly barren or hostile landscapes. How does a person react to this invasion, where the ego is obliged to submit to a higher power? This of course is the real battle, the battle that dwarfs all World Wars past and future for all men and women are affected; at stake is everyone’s eternal life.
People respond in different ways. Some fight hard to eliminate this intruder such that any vestiges of a conscience are snuffed out at an early stage. Others seemingly embrace this new essence in the vain belief that they will achieve some kind of immortality only to discard it when they realise that they have to ‘sacrifice’ aspects of their own personal well-being. Yet others will seek some kind of appeasement whereby they try to juggle the demands of everyday life yet adhere, albeit superficially, to a framework of moral edicts, with the former invariably winning out. Just occasionally, one recognises the real value of this kernel as a beacon of true love and hope, but to do this one has to reject all external values placed upon us by mankind; this is easier said than done for we are continually contaminated by ideas that seek to undermine the existence of God and elevate the supposed sanctity of Man.
This raises a conundrum in that in order to appreciate the truth of the Spirit we also need to unravel the deceit of Man, a web of lies that infiltrates all aspects of heralded wisdom. This includes questioning technology and the ‘advancement’ of all human endeavours. Where would we be without these, is the all too obvious refrain; the simple answer is being closer to God and the discovery of those elusive ideals of peace, harmony, truth and love, which are then within our grasp.
